Many people are affected by sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine to afford them optimal sleep results. CPAPs, or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machines deliver a pressurized flow of air to the recipients nasal passages, thus eliminating snoring and keeping the persons throat from relaxing and closing up while they sleep. The machines are a boon to those who suffer from this malady but many do not realize that with the CPAP pillow, they could be getting an even better night’s sleep, thus improving their vitality and even helping to prevent some heart problems.
The CPAP pillow is designed to cradle your head and shoulders while allowing for free movement of your facial mask and hoses. Special indentations create a place for the hoses to rest, keeping them from rubbing or catching on your pillow as you move in your sleep. Since there are so many different styles of masks available, there are pillows made for each of these different styles.
The pillow is manufactured from a foam that is specially molded for use with your CPAP equipment. The foam firmly supports your head but also gives the pillow a soft surface for sleeping on. It comes with a removable, soft cloth covering that is washable. This covering is not a square case as is used for most pillows. It is made for the cushion, thus preventing wrinkling and ridges that you would get from a standard case.
Several colors of pillow coverings are available so if you prefer something that matches your bedroom, you should have several options. Coverings are made from a soft material for comfort. The case has a zipper on it for easy removal so you can wash it at any time. They are available separately so that you can purchase several of them to keep on hand. Having several cases makes it nice as you can still have a fresh one while others are in the wash.
When buying your pillow, remember that pillows come in different heights. A smaller person may need a higher profiled pillow to properly support his o her head and shoulders, while a larger person may want one that is lower in profile, so choose your pillow by your weight. They are manufactured in low, medium and high profiles. You should choose your pillow by your body weight.
Also, when choosing your pillow, think abut the positions you normally like to sleep in. If you like to sleep on your side, the cushion needs to accommodate this. A back sleeper may need one type, while someone who sleeps on their side may need another, but no matter your preference, there is a pillow for everyone.
When comparing prices, remember that if you are ordering from a website or a catalog, there will be shipping and perhaps handling charges. Be sure to factor these costs in to your final total.
Many users of CPAP machines do not realize the benefit they wold get out of the addition of the CPAP pillow. If you suffer from sleep apnea and want a better night’s rest, try adding a pillow to the regular use of your machine. Many users wold not be without it.
